Donald Trump and the New World Order

When trying to answer the question as to who has the say in the European Union, it’s easy to get confused. The European Council, the European Commission, the member states: Even those who know the EU well don’t often know who has the last word in Brussels disputes. The confusion isn’t new. Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger famously wondered: “Who do I call if I want to call Europe?”

Andrea Germanos – Earth ‘On the Edge’ as Disastrous 2016 Goes Down as Hottest Year on Record

Earth is “on the edge.”

So declared the EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) Thursday, announcing that 2016 was the warmest year on record.

The first global assessment of last year’s temperatures finds that 2016 broke the record set in 2015 by close to 0.2°C , with last year’s record having broken the record set in 2014.

According to meteorologist Jeff Masters, who is not part of the C3S: “The 3-year string of warmest years on record is the ...

dale ruff – Politics as Psychopathology: Trump’s Attention Deficit, Oppositional, and Sleep Disorder

My friend who not only has a PH.d in theoretical physics and 40 years of experience as a psychiatrist, and whose specialty is diagnosis, tells me that not only is Donald Trump “a f*cking idiot” but has severe ADD, the affliction I know from having taught special education for 20 years. To this diagnosis, I would add Oppositional Disorder (irrational fighting) and a serious sleep disorder, all of which dovetail to describe the behavior of our next President and foreshadow ...

Dimitris Konstantakopoulos – Building Totalitarianism in Europe – The Last Coup of Victoria Nuland

Victoria Nuland, the US Assistant Secretary of State, did not spend much time and energy with Christmas and New Year celebrations this year. She has another very urgent and pressing problem to solve, before leaving the State Department, and this is the “Cyprus conflict”. The way she wants to solve this conflict is by transforming a second member of the EU, after Greece, into a protectorate. As the proposed solution for Cyprus is higlhy unstable, powers outside the EU will ...

Ellen Brown – The Italian Banking Crisis: No Free Lunch – Or Is There?

It has been called “a bigger risk than Brexit”– the Italian banking crisis that could take down the eurozone. Handwringing officials say “there is no free lunch” and “no magic bullet.” But UK Prof. Richard Werner says the magic bullet is just being ignored.

On December 4, 2016, Italian voters rejected a referendum to amend their constitution to give the government more power, and the Italian prime minister resigned. The resulting chaos has pushed Italy’s already-troubled banks into bankruptcy. First on ...

BRIAN CLOUGHLEY – The Decline and Fall of Britain

It is sad to have to have to acknowledge that the country of one’s birth is in decline, but there are signs that Great Britain has fallen on the slippery slope of moral deterioration.  The recent surge in nationalistic jingoism and xenophobia in Britain is lamentable and obnoxious.

In October the British Home Office reported that the number of racist hate crimes in the country had increased by 41 per cent in the month after the June referendum about UK’s ...

Gilbert Doctorow – A New Cold War or a New Detente

The U.S. presidential election presented the American voting public with a clear choice on the issue of the New Cold War with Russia, between worsening tensions and a chance for détente.

Hillary Clinton offered a continuation and intensification of the policies of isolation, denigration and confrontation with Russia that President Obama has pursued over the past three years, bringing us closer to nuclear war. Donald Trump favored a policy of outreach to Russia, initially focused on a common struggle against Islamic ...

Vandana Shiva – People’s Economies vs Corporate Control: First Commodification, Then Financialization, Now Demonetization

Ever since the Corporate Form was “invented” – in its earliest avatar as the collective East India Companies – those who have ruled via corporation have found innovative “means” new to extract wealth from the earth and people, leaving both poorer in a zero-sum “game”.

During The Raj – Company Raj – extraction was carried out through Lagaan – taxation on land & agriculture. Between 1765 to 1815,the Company is recorded to have pirated £ 18 Million annually from India. 50 ...

George Monbiot – Frightened by Donald Trump? You don’t know the half of it

Yes, Donald Trump’s politics are incoherent. But those who surround him know just what they want, and his lack of clarity enhances their power. To understand what is coming, we need to understand who they are. I know all too well, because I have spent the past 15 years fighting them.

Over this time, I have watched as tobacco, coal, oil, chemicals and biotech companies have poured billions of dollars into an international misinformation machine composed of thinktanks, bloggers ...
