Paul Street – The Shell Game of the Economic Elite’s Hamilton Project

Beneath the marionette theater of American electoral and parliamentary democracy, policy is made by a “deep state” oligarchy of corporate and financial elites. The political actors atop the great quadrennial campaign carnivals speak in progressive-sounding terms of their commitment to equality, justice, peace, popular self-rule and the common good. Behind stage and screen, however, the contenders on both sides of the nation’s party duopoly—“two wings of the same bird of prey” (Upton Sinclair, 1904)—are captive to the ...

Christoph Schult and Klaus Wiegrefe – Dangerous Propaganda: Network Close To NATO Military Leader Fueled Ukraine Conflict

Working with dubious sourcing, a group close to NATO’s chief military commander Philip Breedlove sought to secure weapons deliveries for Ukraine, a trove of newly released emails revealed. The efforts served to intensify the conflict between the West and Russia.

In private, the general likes to wear leather. Philip Mark Breedlove, 60, is a well-known Harley-Davidson fan, and up until a few weeks ago, he also served as the commander of NATO and American troops in Europe. Even during his tenure ...

Rebecca Kheel – Obama hears calls to break treaty and place US troops in Eastern Europe

The Obama administration is hearing growing calls to permanently station a substantial number of troops in Eastern Europe as a deterrent to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putting a large number of U.S. or NATO troops in Eastern Europe would violate a 1997 treaty with Russia, but those arguing for the placement say Putin already broke that treaty by backing the takeover by Russian-backed groups of Ukrainian territory.

“Russia’s aggression and more dangerous military posture in Eastern Europe is a critical test for ...

Adam Johnson – Media Reports ISIS Nuclear Plot That Never Actually Involved ISIS

The AP published this week (10/5/15) a thrilling account of how the FBI, in concert with Moldovan authorities, “disrupted” a smuggling ring that was supposedly trying to sell “nuclear material” to ISIS and other terror organizations over a five-year span. The primary developments in the story are almost a year old, but the resurfaced tale made news across the English-speaking world:

DESMOND BUTLER & VADIM GHIRDA – Nuclear Smugglers Tried Selling Radioactive Materials To ISIS

In the backwaters of Eastern Europe, authorities working with the FBI have interrupted four attempts in the past five years by gangs with suspected Russian connections that sought to sell radioactive material to Middle Eastern extremists, The Associated Press has learned. The latest known case came in February this year, when a smuggler offered a huge cache of deadly cesium — enough to contaminate several city blocks — and specifically sought a buyer from the Islamic State group.

Criminal organizations, some ...

Tom Engelhardt – Three Exceptional Facts About America

Given the cluttered landscape of the last 14 years, can you even faintly remember the moment when the Berlin Wall came down, the Cold War ended in a stunned silence of shock and triumph in Washington, Eastern Europe was freed, Germany unified, and the Soviet Union vanished from the face of the Earth? At that epochal moment, six centuries of imperial rivalries ended. Only one mighty power was left.

There hadn’t been a moment like it in historical memory: a single ...

NATO, the IMF, divisions, Grexit… Looking out to 2020: the return of European wars ?

In the face of some rather worrying indicators in recent months, we have got to the point of asking ourselves the question of the likelihood of a return of European wars looking out to 2020. Actually, it’s not because our team continues to see the crisis’ exit tracks falling into place, that it doesn’t keep watch over the remaining obstacles on the path to these exits; obstacles which to us seem to be of two kinds essentially :
. first, the ...

The Globalization Of War. America’s “Long War” Against Humanity By Dr. Ludwig Watzal

The world is on a brink of America’s instigated wars against all countries that would not succumb to political pressure by the U. S. Empire. This “globalization of war”-doctrine is, according to Michel Chossudovsky, professor of Economics and Director of the Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG) in Montreal, Canada,  the centerpiece of America’s hegemonic project in order to gain world domination. “The United States and its allies have launched a military adventure that threatens the future of humanity”, he wrote. ...
